While at PMA I came across a very cool new camera rig that I have since been able to put through the paces and review. The Camtrol Prime Stabilizer has come in handy and provided fresh angles to “next level” some typical shoots.
We have now used it on several shoots and are planning on bringing it along this weekend to the opening day of BMX racing at Wakefield BMX. We also have an engagement session we are doing video for and are looking forward to using the Camtrol to capture the unique angles that it’s capable of.
While filming a search and Rescue team during wilderness line search training, the Camtrol not only provided unique angles but comfort and stability. With almost limitless configuration and adjustment possibilities the Camtrol was able to prove itself useful in a variety of situations and enhance our production value. One of our only nits is related to the near infinite possibilities of the unit, while changing configurations is quick considering the possibilities it is not an on the fly process. Going from one set up to the next you are better off stopping and devoting yourself to the rig. We found that by taking our time to get the setup balanced and configured correctly the first time we were less likely to fiddle with it during the shoot.
